Portamentus

Many regions of Portamentus suffer from severe fuel shortages that don't seem to plague most of the rest of Fehtahn. This can probably be attributed to the lack of a centralized trade network (other than the Black Hyper-Market).

In these "No Fuel Zones" there is no power in the ruined cities and no fuel for cars. Power is a luxury only in the camps of warlords with generators, and those warlords need to devote a sizable amount of their muscle dispatching bands of roughians searching the wastelands for buried fuel depots of the First Versions or making daring raids on other warlords fuel stockpiles.

Crayze Lune drives his Huge Steam Powered Vehicle he calls "Beth" across the no fuel zones and gave Grimm a lift across the South Sands Desert in Tome 2.

Portamentus is also the source for Portamentian Gin.
