The Imperious Dozen

No one knows who is a member of the Imperious Dozen, or even how many members they have. What is known is that little has yet to be revealed about the Imperious Dozen, but there are many references to them throughout the Song.

The powerful and mysterious group, founder of Limit Science, was founded in 499 to fight the threat of any grossly or unfairly unbalancing events which could cause unbalance in the Source Well (and subsequently another Great Apochraphon), and so far, they have had Extreme success - or we can assume so, given that the world hasn't blown up in an explosion of bodacious magnitude yet. Their primary goal has much to do with murder: since Sorcelators are possessed of a tiny fraction of the Source Well's energy, the untimely death of powerful or several sorcelators often necessitates the untimely (or, as the Dozen would tell you, very timely indeed, thank you very much!) dissapearance of those of differing Elementials simply to keep the fragile balance in check. Occasionally, their more savoury missions will be publically announced, to keep them trustworthy in the public eye - one example would be their openly stated search and retrieve mission for Sethapock's 99 ultraguns.

This is not all the Dozen does, however - this is only what the public suspects. It has been hinted in The Song by characters who we can assume to be in the know that the Dozen also carries out hundreds of other, balance-related Bedarkened-Ops missions, some so tenuously related to the noble concept of balance that it must be wondered by even the most Lame of wonderers: are the rumours of corruption in this powerful, world-spanning organisation true?
